6 Killed, 5 Injured In Head-On Crash In George West

CarAccidentDamage

When a driver fails to obey traffic laws, fatal accidents can occur. Sadly, this was recently the case in George West, when a head-on crash occurred on a Texas highway. Six people were killed in the crash, including a woman from Houston.

Three vehicles were involved in the fatal accident, which occurred on the evening of December 30. The crash occurred when a minivan attempted to overtake a vehicle in a no passing zone on U.S. Highway 59. The minivan collided head-on with an SUV coming in the other direction. The SUV was then rear-ended by a sedan. The vehicle that the driver was passing was not hit in the crash.

In total, six people were killed in the accident. The driver of the minivan, a 39-year-old woman from Houston, as well as a child passenger, both died at the accident scene. The driver of the SUV, a 47-year-old man, and two passengers, ages 58 and 74, were killed in the crash. All three were from Ganado. An occupant of the sedan was also killed.

Five others were injured. They were hospitalized with “non-incapacitating injuries.” Alcohol is not considered to be a factor in the accident. The crash is still under investigation.

No Passing Zones

Being in a no passing zone can be frustrating, especially if you’re stuck behind a really slow driver. You may be tempted to pass the slow car in front of you so you can get to your destination quickly. However, you first need to understand the traffic laws around safely passing another vehicle

Two-lane roads may have “no passing zones,” which are marked with a solid yellow line and identified by pennant-shaped signs that are yellow and black. No passing zones are typically on hills or curves where you cannot see far enough ahead. This makes it hard to pass safely. If you are passing legally in a passing zone, you must complete passing before you enter a no passing zone.

When you see a no passing zone sign, you need to stay in your lane. You cannot pass no matter how slow the vehicle in front is going. Road markings can also indicate whether or not you can legally pass. If the road markings form a double-solid line, that means nobody can pass from either direction. If there’s a dotted line on your side of the lane and a solid line on the other side, that means you can pass when safe, but drivers on the other side cannot. If there’s a solid line on your side of the lane and a dotted line on the other, you cannot pass, but drivers on the other side can. If there’s just one dotted line between two lanes, drivers in either lane can pass when safe.
