2 Killed When Ferrari Loses Control In Houston

CarFire2

Sports cars are fun to drive until you lose control. Many of these cars go super fast and once a driver starts speeding, it’s hard for them to slow down—until they collide with something and cause a serious car accident.

Sadly, two drivers were killed when a Ferrari lost control in Houston. The fatal accident occurred on the morning of July 26 at Westheimer and Chimney Rock roads.

The driver of the Ferrari, a 44-year-old man, was speeding on Westheimer Road when he hit the median. He lost control and went into the eastbound lanes, where he hit a Hyundai Elantra, flipping it over. The driver, a 57-year-old woman, died at the accident scene.

The driver of the Ferrari was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. Both vehicles were unrecognizable after the crash due to the speed and impact. The fatal accident is under investigation.

Are Sports Cars Dangerous?

Sports cars tend to be involved in more accidents than other vehicles. In the past, these vehicles were not made well, so they were inherently more dangerous. Some vehicles such as Corvettes were made of fiberglass and had small windshields, which did little to protect occupants in an accident.

Things have changed. While some vehicles, such as Ferraris and BMWs, have a reputation for being in a lot of car crashes, the truth is that these vehicles are built with a lot of advanced safety features. Many have features such as multiple airbags, anti-lock brakes, active traction control, and engineered crumple zones. While this may make it seem as though they’re not as dangerous as some other cars, sports cars have one thing that offsets all these nice features: power.

While sports cars do have some safety features, their priorities are speed and acceleration. Today’s sports cars are faster than ever. These vehicles have extremely high horsepower and torque, allowing them to reach triple-digit speeds in just seconds. This has caused many drivers to crash these vehicles just minutes after driving them off the car lot.

Having a lot of power isn’t a bad thing unless the driver is inexperienced and doesn’t know how to use it properly. If you don’t know how to control a sports car, then a lot of power can be dangerous. It’s especially dangerous when other lives are at risk. It’s always devastating when an innocent bystander is killed due to a person racing or losing control of a sports car.

Ferraris and other sports cars are liabilities on the roadway. Many of those who drive these cars are inexperienced and reckless. They are unable to handle the amount of power that these vehicles have, which leads to serious accidents.
